Abby notices a light emanating down a hallway. Frank notices her noticing it. She looks to him with a solemn expression.
Neither Frank nor Abby has a desire for a closer look, maintaining their hopefully safe distance.
The light from Abby’s hand illuminates the large room to a point, but the dark holds strong in the corners of the open space. Frank (careful not to stray too far from her side) examines the collapsed welcome desk, the broken chairs, and the other remains still struggling to survive against the thick island roots
Frank just looks at Abby, truly speechless for the first time in a long time. She resumes their walk. They traverse the length of the clearing and head up the steps to the structure’s wide open, ominous entryway. As Frank enters, he jiggles the remaining front door, still hanging cock-eyed by a single bolt.
This time, it’s Frank that ignores Abby. They continue their trek in silence, as more and more moon light starts to break through the tree growth beyond them. They come into a clearing and pause. Abby expands her light to illuminate a frightening sight. Just beyond them (covered in vine) is a large, decrepit brick
Frank picks up his bag, and trots off the dock after Abby. With her hand still aglow, she guides them onto the island and through the thick, gnarly overgrowth of fauna that populates it.
Frank scoffs at the comment. Abby ignores him, tossing out a rope that hooks onto one of the still standing dock posts. She pulls them close, and then steps from the row boat onto the decaying structure. After securing the rope, she turns to watch Frank wobble his way out, nearly tipping into the water
Frank rows, while Abby lights their way with her glowing yellow hand to provide them a 20 foot sight-line radius. Abby is the first to spot the remains of an old boat dock, and points the way to Frank. He adjusts course and paddles with a little more vigor.
