Sunil stops just shy of the cemented area behind the empty park amphitheater. He searches for anything that could have prompted the earlier scream. He is about to chalk it up to nothing, when a crash comes from the other side of the amphitheater. He rushes around the left side of the structure, and spots
Mouth open, and unsure how to proceed, Henry just watches Sunil disappear into the swell of oncoming park patrons.
Sunil shoves his collected bag of trash items into Henry’s arms. Before Henry can react, Sunil runs towards the direction of the scream.
Sunil shrugs, and the two head into the grass towards the FDR Drive. But before they can cover the width of the park, someone screams out behind them. The outburst generates enough unease that a small gaggle of people panic and run in their direction. Henry yanks on Sunil’s arm.
Sunil spots Henry inspecting the bins a bit further ahead, and picks up his pace to catch him. As he traverses across the sidewalk, he unconsciously rubs his dirty hand against the base of his neck. With his backpack secured over his shoulders, Sunil stops to investigate an overflowing trash bin. Reaching in, he pulls out a few empty plastic bottles and adds them to the collection he carries in a dirty plastic bag. Just as he is about to dive his hand back in, he overhears a passerby mutter “gross”
But Bernadette is already past the bed, out of the room, and running down the hallway towards the stairs.
Bernadette quickly spins back towards them. Philip gives her a fierce glare, while Gregory mock-laughs silently behind him. Adam can only look awkwardly around the room. She sighs and starts to walk back towards them.
