With a twitch of Wally’s finger, Abby feels her jaw muscles come back to her. Eyes on the bullet in her forefront, and Wally beyond it, she finds her voice again.
Abby struggles to focus on his threat, the hot pressure of the bullet building between her eyes.
As she leans in to deliver a peck to Abby’s cheek, Justina glances a final time at the bullet now barely an inch away from piercing Abby’s head. Justina whispers a final plea into Abby’s ear.
Justina reaches up to Abby’s clenched fist, still ‘frozen’ over her head. One by one, Justina pries Abby’s fingers open until the necklace drops out, and falls into Justina’s awaiting open palm.
Justina pauses and flicks her eyes over to the shaky bullet. Abby cannot help but do the same. It looms larger now, its former 3 inch separation from her flesh down closer to a 2 inch gap.
